The Chairman announced that name badges were to be produced so as to encourage all members to wear them at every meeting. He also called for the nomination of members to join the committee as ordinary members or, most welcome, as Vice Chairman. He reminded members that the minutes of meetings were available on the website and to note that a change had been made to the meetings programme with a talk by the Harbour Master of Teesport replacing the talk on Pottery Crafts scheduled for 2nd February 2012.
Details of a ‘home exchange’ with Probus members in Australia are available on the website. The Treasurer reported that around 20 members had not yet paid their annual subscription. He announced that the Christmas Lunch had already been booked for 15th
December 2011 at The Wainstones. TheMembership Secretary reported that two new applications for membership had been received. Finally, the Chairman asked if there would be any interest in visits to Jodrell Bank or Fylingdales.
The talk at the next meeting on 19th July will be by Peter Sotheran and be entitled ‘Battling AIDS in Kenya’.
